WHAT'S WITH THE MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION?

HOW IT WORKS

Sick of waiting several weeks/months to get help with a task or project?  Tired of seeing your "To Do" list grow? Looking for an above mediocre gift for that special someone or for your older parents/uncle/relative who can't see that well...  Mediocre Handyman is offering a monthly subscription service! You pick a day/time (1st Mon @ 9am each month) & count on us being there every to help with whatever you need. If you don't need help one month, you can skip with 24hrs notice at no cost.   

PREVENTATIVE PROJECTS

We can help even when you don't think you have anything to do! 

For example: 

  • Coverage during vacation/travel (bringing in mail, packages or trash cans)
  • Changing HVAC filters or batteries for smoke detectors.
  • Check gutters for clogs.
  • Pick up bulky/heavy supplies @ Costco.
  • Lubricate hinges, locks & doors.
  • Ensuring all windows and doors are securely locked.
  • Organizing closets/basements

Winterization & Preventative Maintenance

Plumbing & Pipe Protection:

  • Draining and winterizing outdoor showers and faucets.
  • Insulating exposed pipes in crawl spaces, basements, or garages.
  • Shutting off the main water supply if the house will be vacant and draining sanitary fixtures (toilets, sinks).
  • Flush hot water heaters to prevent corrosion and improve efficiency.
  • Checking for and repairing  any existing leaks.

HVAC System Check & Maintenance

  • Inspecting and servicing the heating system (furnace, heat pump).
  • Replacing air filters.
  • Replacing crumbling and dry-rotted insulation around condensate lines.
  • Checking thermostat batteries and programming for energy efficiency.

Exterior & Structural Checks:

  • Ensuring downspouts are clear and directing water away from the foundation.
  • Checking siding and trim for damage or gaps that could allow water or pest intrusion; caulking and sealing as needed.
  • Inspecting windows and doors for drafts and weather-stripping integrity; repairing or replacing, caulk, and seals.
  • Securing or storing outdoor furniture, grills, and decorations.
  • Checking and repairing deck and stair railings for safety.
  • Inspecting for and sealing potential entry points for pests (mice, insects).

Interior Checks:

  • Checking for signs of mold or mildew, especially in damp areas like basements, bathrooms, and attics.
  • Ensuring all windows and doors are securely locked.
  • Checking smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working.

Storm Preparation & Post-Storm Services:

Pre-Storm Preparation:

  • Boarding up windows and doors (if requested and materials are available).
  • Securing loose items around the property.
  • Checking sump pump operation (if applicable).

Post-Storm Inspections & Minor Repairs:

  • Checking for any visible damage to the roof, siding, windows, and gutters.
  • Clearing debris from walkways, driveways, and around the foundation.
  • Checking for water intrusion or leaks.
  • Minor repairs to fences or outdoor structures.

General Handyman & Monitoring Services (especially for vacant properties):

Regular Property Check-ins:

  • Periodic visual inspections of the interior and exterior (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly).
  • Running water briefly in sinks and flushing toilets to keep traps full and prevent sewer gas.
  • Checking for any unusual odors or sounds.
  • Ensuring heating is functioning correctly to prevent freezing.
  • Providing photo/video updates to homeowners.

Small Repairs & Maintenance:

  • Fixing leaky faucets or running toilets.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged door handles, locks, or hinges.
  • Drywall patching and touch-up painting.
  • Replacing lightbulbs or light fixtures.

Appliance Checks:

  • Ensuring refrigerators and freezers are running (if left on).
  • Checking for leaks from washing machines or dishwashers.
  • Pre-Spring Opening Preparation (late winter/early spring).

De-winterization (SPRING) Services:

  • Turning the main water supply back on.
  • Reconnecting hoses and outdoor faucets.
  • Checking plumbing for any leaks after re-pressurizing.

Initial Cleaning & Setup:

  • Pressure washing decks, siding, and walkways.
  • Setting up outdoor furniture.

Q. Are there any up front fees? How much does this amazing service/program cost? 

A. No upfront fees. $80 for the hour/monthly visit.


Q. Is there a contract?

A. No, you can cancel any time. $25 fee if you cancel without 24hr notice.


Q. What payments do you accept?

A. Cash, check, Venmo, Zelle


Q. Can I change the day/time if needed?

A.  Absolutely. 


Q. What if the job takes more than 1 hour during your monthly visit?

A. If you give us notice we can try to extend the time or you can always book additional time for us to come back.
